We have an exciting and rare opportunity for 5 passionate individuals to join our International Movement Support team. This pro-bono, voluntary role offers more than just a chance to contribute - you’ll be at the forefront of expanding ACAN’s global reach, playing a key role in shaping our vision, mission, and activities beyond the UK. This experience will not only bolster your CV, but also allow you to build invaluable networks and shape the future of your career in sustainability. ACAN is a dynamic network of individuals within architecture and related built environment professions dedicated to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate and ecological breakdown. Our mission is clear: to initiate systemic change within our profession and the construction industry as a whole, in response to the climate emergency. We achieve this through political campaigning and lobbying, direct action and public engagement, as well as research and knowledge sharing.
ACAN is active in 10 countries and counting - ACAN Netherlands held its official launch event in Rotterdam yesterday. In the past few months alone we have collaborated on a manifesto that is being distributed to the European commission and European Parliamentary members and worked with groups Architects For Future and Le mouvement pour une Frugalité heureuse et créative to issue a statement after the EU elections. The Embodied Carbon Declared (Byggutsläppslistan) initiative from ACAN Sweden and Differ was honoured by Fast Company on their yearly list of WORLD CHANGING IDEAS.
For the next two weeks, we're focused on the 2024 ACAN! International Movement Support recruitment. We're calling on ambitious changemakers who share our principles and are eager to shape the future of ACAN! globally.
